Cookies + Bowling + "Saving Money" = Wedding Bells
At first glance...
Adam and Leah met through a mutual friend on the Marshall University campus during their college days, while dating other people in the winter of 2005. Soon after, Leah made Adam homemade St. Patricks Day sugar cookies with green icing. When it got a little warmer out, Adam heard Leah walking by while playing tennis with a friend. He yelled, "Hello, Leah," and she started laughing because she did not know who it was until he popped his head around the corner. During the summer, Leah went home to Paden City with her family. After talking all summer and becoming closer, Adam helped Leah move back into her dorm room in the fall of 2006.
The First Date
Adam and Leah went bowling together; Adam was nervous, so Leah talked enough for the both of them.
And she said...
After being friends for years, then dating for 2 and a half years, Leah and Adam went and looked at engagement rings in November 2010. Adam told Leah it would be a while before she got a ring because he needed to save some money;it was a trick. On Christmas Day 2010, Adam asked Leah's dad for permission to marry his daughter. Adam and Leah went to Pittsburgh (the site of their first trip together a couple years earlier) on New Years Eve and stayed downtown at the Wyndham Grand Hotel. After walking around at First Night on Penn Avenue participating in the New Years festivities, Adam and Leah watched the ball rise to the sky symbolizing New Years 2011. As the ball was going up, Adam surprised Leah with a ring from his pocket that had been there all night and proposed to her. Leah was happily surprised, after not expecting to see a ring for a while. Then the planning started,culminating in their wonderful marriage on October 1, 2011.
